BRI Research Centers

The Biomedical Research Institute's (BRI) research centers were designed to enhance, synergize, and stimulate interdepartmental and individual research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The centers bring scientists together to develop collaborative research initiatives not tenable by individuals and single departments alone.

The BRI’s eight disease-focused research centers are supported by three resource- and technology-based programs, which provide tools applicable across the scientific disciplines. Together, this infrastructure encourages communication and interactions among scientists and clinicians and facilitates opportunities for clinical, translational, and basic research.

Cancer Research Center   Cancer Research Center - Seeks to solve fundamental problems relating to the causes, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancers.

Cardiovascular, Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders Research Center   Cardiovascular, Diabetes & Metabolic Disorders Research Center - Facilitates progress in diagnosis, prevention, and treatments for patients in ways unfeasible for an individual group or department.

Human Genetics at the BRI   Center for Human Genetics at the BRI  - Aims to discover genetic variations that underlie, influence, and cause disease and to use this knowledge for prevention and treatment.

Connors-BRI Center for Research on Women's Health & Gender Biology   Connors-BRI Center for Research on Women's Health & Gender Biology - Promotes the discovery of mechanisms and methodologies that underlie gender differences.

Infectious and Immunologic Diseases Research Center   Infectious and Immunologic Diseases Research Center - Takes an integrated approach to both infectious and immune-mediated diseases to better prevent, diagnose and treat them.

Musculoskeletal Research Center   Musculoskeletal Research Center - Strives to enhance, synergize, and stimulate interdepartmental and individual research that focuses on bones, joints, muscles, and the disorders that affect them.

Neurosciences Research Center   Neurosciences Research Center - Pursues breakthroughs in the treatment, prediction and prevention of brain disorders.
