RSS Feeds from Brigham and Women’s Hospital

What is RSS?

RSS, or Really Simple Syndication, is an easy-to-use format for delivering the latest news or other information from a web site directly to the people who indicate an interest in that content. When you subscribe to an RSS feed, your RSS reader will alert you whenever new web content is available. The reader will send a headline and short text on the subject; if interested you can click to read the full story.

Choose from Two BWH RSS Feeds

BWH offers two RSS feeds – the BWH-News RSS feed that delivers all of the latest news from the hospital, and a BWH-ForJournalists RSS feed that includes news releases, media alerts and other information specifically for journalists and media outlets. More information on the BWH-ForJournalists feed.

Using a News Reader or Aggregator to View RSS Feeds

To view RSS feeds, you first will need to set up a news reader (also known as a feed reader or an aggregator). There are many types of news readers; many are available for free and take only a few minutes to set up. Some are stand-alone software programs and others are plug-ins or extensions for web or email applications. To find the right news reader for you, try searching Google (or any search engine) or Wikipedia for “RSS news reader” or “aggregator,” or try one of our picks (all are free) below.

  • Google Reader
  • My Yahoo!
  • NewsGator
  • Rocket RSS Reader

How to Subscribe to a BWH RSS Feed

Once your news reader is set up, you can subscribe to a BWH RSS feed by clicking on the orange RSS graphic on the BWH home page. Follow the directions in your news reader for adding a new feed. This involves copying the URL of the RSS page into your news reader.

For more about news readers, see “aggregators” in Wikipedia.
