Hospital Medicine is a unique specialty composed of physicians leading, directing, and improving inpatient care with the patient at the center.  The Hospitalist Service, established at Brigham and Women's Hospital in 1998, has expanded to include the medical consult service and four general medical teams, which include the PACE service.  We also care for patients at Faulkner Hospital.  The BWF Hospitalist Service is staffed by physicians and physician assistants, trained in internal medicine and other medical specialties.
Our mission is to 1) promote high quality, efficient, comprehensive, compassionate inpatient care, especially for those who are disenfranchised, 2) redefine and improve the standard of inpatient care including seamless communication across multiple settings, 3) excel as educators in conveying the principles of evidence based inpatient medicine to students, residents, colleagues, and patients and 4) become national leaders in hospitalist medicine and agents of change in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety, and clinical research.
