The mission of the Brigham & Women's Hospital Clinical Laboratories is to:
- Provide reliable, timely, and informative services to physicians and other health care providers for the benefit of the patient.
- Educate current and future laboratorians, physicians, and other health care professionals in the science of laboratory medicine.
- Develop and improve laboratory technology and services through applied research.
- Maintain status as leader and role model in the laboratory community in the delivery of high quality patient care.

Introduction
The many dedicated employees that constitute the Brigham and Women's Clinical Laboratories Division, play an integral part in the success achieved by the laboratory and the hospital.
The laboratory provides a wide range of services to all the hospital inpatients and also to a vast number of outpatients. Outpatients are seen both within the institution and throughout the community. The laboratory has also set up and maintains blood collection sites, throughout the area, in an effort to meet the needs our clients.
The Director of the Brigham and Women's Clinical Laboratories Division is Milenko Tanasijevic, M.D., M.B.A., The Clinical Laboratories perform over 7.4 million test/year and employees over 330 full time employees. Most of the samples are collected by the phlebotomy staff and processed by Lab Control (both directed by Dr. Petr Jarolim). The testing is performed by Medical Technologists in Blood Bank (directed by Dr. Leslie Silberstein), Chemistry (directed by Dr. Petr Jarolim), Hematology (directed by Dr. David Dorfman), Immunology (headed by Dr. Peter Schur), Microbiology (directed by Dr. Andrew Onderdonk), Reproductive-Endocrinology (headed by Dr. George Mutter), Tissue Typing (headed by Dr. Edgar Milford), and Virology (headed by Dr. Frederick Wang).
