The hallmark of the BWH Vascular Center is its multidisciplinary approach to evaluating and treating patients with arterial, venous and lymphatic disorders. Services in vascular medicine, surgery and radiology are provided within the context of a carefully integrated program at our state-of-the-art Shapiro Cardiovascular Center.
Vascular Medicine
Specialists in Vascular Medicine are available to evaluate and manage patients with arterial, venous, and lymphatic disease and to contribute on a continuing basis to treatment of coexistent cardiac disease, hypertension, diabetes, lipid, and thrombotic disorders. The entire range of resources provided by the Cardiovascular Medicine Division is readily available to Vascular Center patients. In selected cases, cardiac evaluation may require exercise testing, thallium and sestamibi imaging, echocardiography, ambulatory Holter monitoring and, if indicated, cardiac catheterization.
Vascular Disease Prevention Program
The Vascular Disease Prevention program identifies and treats patients who have vascular disorders that contribute to atherosclerosis. Physicians, counselors, and nutritionists are available to manage patients with hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes, and to facilitate smoking cessation and exercise programs. More>>
